Also here are some tips to save money when visiting the San Diego Zoo.

1. Pack Snacks.

This is my #1 tip! The San Diego Zoo, allows you to bring your own food and drinks, so save yourself some money and pack a bag with cheese, crackers, chips, sandwiches, water etc..

2. Avoid Paying Full Price

Look for San Diego Zoo discounts before you buy your tickets and before you go to the Zoo.  Start by visiting the The San Diego Zoo  website where they’ll list some discounts if any.

Before buying your tickets decide if you’re going for one or two days, are you going to visit the San Diego Zoo Safari Park as well or any other theme park in California such as; Legoland, SeaWorld, Knott’s Soak City, even museums and aquariums, there many options to save the most when visiting various attractions, learn more here: San Diego Zoo Tickets

Also on this website you can find out more about discounts at San Diego attractions and which month of the year if FREE to visit!

3. Take Advantage of the Bus Tour.

The guided bus tour is included with regular admission. It is a 35-minute narrated tour on a open air, double-decker bus. Here are two suggestions on when to ride the bus tour:

  • Early in the day. Beat the crowds and get an overview of the zoo, so you know what you want to go back and see up close.
  • In the afternoon. You’ll walk a lot! And specially the kids will be very tired!
