Tips to Enjoy The Holidays With Your Family plus Annie Movie Giveaway

I know it sounds cheesy, but the truth is that with all the things we have to do to celebrate Christmas, from decorating, shopping, Holiday parties, Christmas pageants, we forget that this cheerful season is all about being together with your loved ones and we might not need to but so many gifts or plan expensive vacations to have  Merry Christmas.

Having a family that loves you is the biggest gift anyone can receive and I’m lucky to say, I have it! My boys are my life and there’s nothing I love more than my David & Carlos and  if I didn’t have them, I know this Holiday season wouldn’t be the same. I can’t imagine not having my family to celebrate Christmas.

Annie review
It was the upcoming movie Annie, that actually inspire me to write this article, because as you know she’s an orphaned looking for her parents and although she doesn’t find them, Annie finds a family and brings happiness to a millionaire who thougth having a family wasn’t important.

Time goes so fast, specially when we’re busy planning, organizing and just going on with our busy lives that we don’t stop to enjoy this beautiful season, that’s why this year I made a commitment to spend more time appreciating the Holiday season than planning how to celebrate it. How am I doing it? Here are 5 ways I’m trying to accomplish it.

Any day can be a Holiday movie night

If I wait for the weekend to watch a Holiday movie with my family it might not happen! During December there’s always a Holiday party, Christmas event etc.. So at least twice a week, we plan it and watch one of our favorite Holiday movies together.

5 Tips to enjoy the holidays with your family
Plan to spend time with the kids

We plan everything, our calendar is full with Holiday activities, BUT spending time with our children, I even said no to a couple of Holiday parties to spend more time with my family,  I made a commitment to schedule more activities with my boys such as a Children’s Holiday play or going to the movie theater, as you know during this season the best family movies come out, such as Annie, in theaters on December 19th! Perfect Holiday movie!

5 Tips to enjoy the holidays with your family
Enjoy your decorations

Personally, I love how my living room looks around the Holidays, is so Holiday, cozy and warm and again because I was  busy I wasn’t really enjoying it, so I decided to make it a habit this Holiday season to sit by the fireplace and Christmas tree and either, read a book with the kids, play a game or just sit by myself and relax reading a book, magazine, drinking a glass of wine of a cup of coffee.

Cook or bake together

I told you many times, I’m not a chef, but during the Holidays I like to cook and bake, so I decided to prepare more kids friendly meals and allow my boys to help me, specially when baking holiday treats.

Jingle all the way!

Yes! “Jingle bells, Jingle bells!” What I mean is sing Holiday songs with your kids! It will put you all in the Holiday mood in no time! During this cheerful season there’s always Holiday music playing at my house and in my car and even when the music is off, I can hear my kids singing a Christmas song, I love it!

There you go, as you can see is very easy to really enjoy the Holidays if only you make it part of your agenda. Remember, there’s nothing more important than being together as a family this Holiday season, they’re our greatest gift!

About Annie

A Broadway classic that has delighted audiences for generations comes to the big screen with a new, contemporary vision in Columbia Pictures’ comedy Annie.  Director/Producer/Screenwriter Will Gluck teams with producers James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith & Will Smith, Caleeb Pinkett, and Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, Laurence “Jay” Brown, and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith with a modern telling that captures the magic of the classic characters and original show that won seven Tony Awards. Celia Costas and Alicia Emmrich serve as Executive Producers.  The screenplay is by Will Gluck and Aline Brosh McKenna, based on the musical stage play “Annie,” book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and on “Little Orphan Annie,” © and ® Tribune Content Agency, LLC.
Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014.  Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz).  But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.  Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

We start each year by attending the Jingle Bell Dog Walk. We really try to come up with a creative costume for our dog each year. Our dog loves to dress up and walk in the walk with all the other dogs and dog lovers. On Thanksgiving our family makes the costumes and everyone shares there ideas. It is a great way to start the Holidays and puts everyone in the Christmas Spirit.
