Now that the major holidays have passed, it’s time to gear up for one of the biggest annual events in America, Super Bowl 50. Many people may have taken a hit from spending money on holiday gifts and New Year’s Eve parties. But for those who still want to host a great Super Bowl party on a budget, here are a few tips to keep from breaking the bank:
DIY: Decorate-It-Yourself –There are lots of ways to create decorations without spending loads of money on them. For instance, to make sure you know who’s drinking what, print labels onto stick paper with a football image and space to write your name so that everyone can place them on their cups. If you already own a sports jersey or two hang them up on the wall in the room that you will be watching the game. Pick up some duck tape in the colors of the two teams that are playing, divide the room down the middle with the tape and have your guests pick a side to watch the game.
Potluck Party – One way to save money on hosting is to turn your party into a potluck. If everyone brings a dish, there will be more than enough food to go around and a single person doesn’t incur all the costs.
Super Savings with Cash Back – By using a cash back site, you can purchase your Super Bowl supplies and decorations while getting money back for every eligible purchase. Splender, for example, includes more than 800 top-name retailers offering some of the highest cash back rates available. For instance, Oriental Trading has an abundance of decorations from football lanterns to field tablecloths, and currently offers 5% cash back. Additionally, Splender lets people compare prices at different stores and find discounts and special deals.
Super Bowl 50 is on Sunday February 7th at 6:30pm ET 3:30pm PT on CBS
